STEM Night
Denmark High School's Biology Olympiad chapter organizes, plans, and hosts an annual event known as "STEM Night. "The event invites various STEM-related clubs and chapters at Denmark High School to showcase their experiments and love for learning to feeder elementary students. It's a great opportunity to promote STEM education and inspire young minds. Scroll to the bottom to learn how to bring STEM Night to your very own school!

Georgia Tech at STEM Night 2024
Georgia Tech's Ramblin' Rocketry club stole the show at Denmark's 2024 STEM Night with their impressive booth, showcasing all things rocket and aerospace-related. From making your own rockets to launching them in the sky, visitors were treated to an exciting display of the club's passion for rocketry. Club members were on hand to answer any questions, and share their knowledge with attendees, ultimately inspiring the next generation of rocket scientists and aerospace engineers.
What is the purpose of STEM Night?
STEM was designed with the intent to inspire curiosity and foster interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields among young learners. We aim to provide an enriching educational experience for younger students by exposing them to various STEM disciplines in a fun and interactive manner through hands-on activities and engagements. Additionally, this showcases the school's commitment to STEM education and extracurricular involvement, emphasizing our dedication to fostering the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. Our main goal is to provide hands-on experiments and demonstrations which showcase that science can be fun in so many different ways. Additionally, since this event is free of charge for all parents and students, we hope that this will increase STEM outreach and education to underfunded communities and areas.

We had over 250 kids and parents attend STEM Night in 2024, with around 50% of this children being girls
Women in STEM & STEM Night
Women have historically been, and still are, underrepresented in the field of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Men vastly outnumber women in most STEM fields in college and in the workforce. Representation in every field, especially in the field of STEM, is incredibly important. Women make up roughly 50% of the population, yet only about 34% of the STEM workforce is women (from AAUW). The gender gap is particularly high is fast-growing fields like computer science and engineering. Diversity in the field of STEM leads to multiple perspectives, which drives innovation and inclusivity.
" Science is not a boy's game, it's not a girl's game. It's everyone's game. It's about where we are and where we're going." ~ Nichelle Nichols (Former NASA Ambassador)
